Member Spotlight: Rita G.

Rita-G.pngI have over 25 years of professional experience in working with offenders, with an eighteen-year career base established with the Bexar County Community Supervision Department. I have been in a managerial position for the past ten years and oversee court services for the Domestic Violence Unit and the Justice Expedited Diversion Intervention Program (JEDI). My initial management experience with Bexar County CSCD was with the DWI Repeat Offender, Intensive Supervision Unit. Besides the rigors of my current position as Court Manager, I also serve in the capacity of Trainer, and Administrator/Instructor for the State Certified DWI Program and DWI Repeat Offender Program in which I supervise fifteen program instructors and assistants.

I also serve as Senior Consultant for Crosspoint, Inc. Crosspoint provides residential living for federal inmates who are in transition into the Community. In this regard, I am program developer and facilitator for behavior modification
Classes.

I, also, served in a management capacity from 1982 to 1989, as the Regional Director for the National Corrective Training Institute.

I have completed the National Institute Of Corrections, Correctional Leadership Development Program and most recently have been selected as a participant in the First APPA Synergistic Leadership Institute. I am also a member of the Texas Probation Association and listed in Madison Who’s Who of Professionals.

As a manager for Bexar County Community Supervision & Corrections Department, a very diverse organization, I decided that becoming a member of APPA would help me keep up with current trends in Community Supervision. One of the benefits to membership for me is being able to network at the State & National Level.
